Thinking about the theme of my monthly blog this time, I was reflecting on how far I’ve come since starting my own tuition business. Having my very own website seemed essential, but could I build it myself? If I can do it – then anyone can!

Was I too old for this?

Being the wrong side of 50 years old, technology has come a long way in my lifetime and, like everyone, I’ve had to adapt and learn along the way. When I left the classroom and started out on my own, a few flyers in the local newsagent, a Facebook page and word of mouth seemed to be all I’d need to drum up business. How wrong was I? These days, if you’re not all over social media like a rash, have an easy to navigate website and are prominent on Google, then you might struggle. And then when the pandemic arrived …… face to face learning was out!

I told myself, I can do this. I’m confident working with technology and online tuition became the norm for me.  As I sat there gazing at my laptop screen, I knew I couldn’t rely on just my local area anymore. Everyone was online. Zoom was the new conversation. But, could I do it? Could I build a website? Or could I afford to hire someone to do it for me? The first option seemed more realistic, so I started asking around.

So many options, the choice was mindboggling!

A tutor friend of mine had recently signed up to No Hassle Website and was raving about it! I started making enquiries. It seemed to be fairly simple. A basic template, lots of variables for images and text, first class customer support and even hand-holding video demos to help us technophobes to do it ourselves. I decided to take the plunge. A fixed price for what seemed to be a pretty good product. I could see how it could be adapted for educators too.

The initial stages were good. The videos were clear and helpful and if I didn’t understand something, there was a speedy, knowledgeable customer service team who’d send me a video (without judging my ignorance) to set me back on the right path again. About 4 weeks later it was done! And launched! That was in 2020! And that’s right where you are now!

If you knew me, you’d know that I would never promote or recommend something that I didn’t believe in or that I don’t have first-hand experience with. This is why I’m excited to share with you that I am now officially an affiliate of No Hassle Website. This is the same company that I have been raving about for years and which I have used to build my own website and courses. Not only are their products amazing and designed for non-techies like myself, they are also ridiculously affordable and their customer service is the best I have ever experienced.

I get asked about who designed my website all the time by fellow tutors, and when I tell people I did it for just $99, they can’t believe it! But I could never have done it without the support of No Hassle Website!

If I can do it – then anyone can!
